Sowing Seeds of Hope For The Season

Sowing Seeds of Hope this Saturday

Our friends at Cultivate Oregon and Southern Oregon Seed Growers Association, are hosting a “Sowing Seeds of Hope” event this Saturday, September 11, commemorating the Almeda Fire one year ago and giving residents an opportunity to gather safely and with the optimism of seeds for the future.

The event will be outdoors on the lawn of the Phoenix Grange Hall ( 209 N Main St, Phoenix, OR)  and will observe the Oregon mask mandate. There will be free seeds available, seeds to swap, stations to make seed balls, as well as some local seed growers offering seeds for sale.

There will also be an opportunity to make seed balls (sometimes called Earth balls), rolling a variety of different seeds into a ball of water-soluble clay. The seed balls will be scattered throughout Phoenix and Talent on last year’s burned area to beautify and revegetate those areas.  Plus there will be free seeds for those who lost their homes and for those who promise to plant them.

See details in poster below.

Equinox Ceremony Next Sunday

Another Equinox ceremony will be held from noon – 1 pm on Sunday, September 19, in Ashland, at Lithia Park. All are invited to this simple ceremony honoring the changing of the season and expressing gratitude to the Earth. As is our tradition, the ceremony will be on the lawn just above the upper duck pond near the parking area on Winburn Way. Masks appreciated.
