Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance (SOPA) is hosting a Summer Solstice ceremony noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, near the upper duck pond at Lithia Park in Ashland. Parking is available off Winburn Way, just north of the Granite Street intersection. Everyone is invited.
SOPA has hosted simple Solstice and Equinox celebrations, facilitated by Louise Paré, since the winter of 2012. The celebrations are centered on gratitude while gently reflecting on themes related to the season, recent events or the state of our world at this time. Attendees are invited to speak from their hearts or to simply be in silence in community with others.
This year SOPA’s Summer Solstice Celebration is particularly meaningful, as we at SOPA are in a place of deep inquiry about what we wish to bring forth this coming year. We know we want to think about how we can practice deep, deep gratitude and reciprocity – we want to acknowledge the myriad gifts presented to us by virtue of being here at this time and at this place. In the coming weeks we will tell you more – more about what the Pachamama Alliance is planning and more about what our SOPA community is dreaming and what is coalescing in our heart of hearts. Whatever comes forth, we want you, everyone to be a part of it.
So let’s gather together to celebrate this mid-summer pause, to listen to the Earth and to listen to our hearts. Yes, for now, let’s just take a deep breath and listen.
