Let’s show some gratitude … and have a great time!

SOCAN Grateful Americana Benefit Bash

What about living in Southern Oregon makes us grateful? For some it’s the beautiful forests, for some the rivers and lakes, for some the fishing or the coastal wonders, and for some the winter recreation or world class wines. All these local delights are threatened by climate change. It’s time to support your friends in Southern Oregon Climate Action Now (SOCAN) in efforts to combat the threat.

SOCAN has been fighting and winning for Oregon and the planet for more than 11 years. Now they’ve come up with a wonderful idea for how we can show our gratitude. Join SOCAN and friends starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, for the Grateful Americana Benefit Bash at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Rd, Ashland, OR.  No reply required. Please just show up and have fun!

The bash features two top Rogue Valley bands, Shine On and Mountaintop Sound. The benefit will open with Steve Lavering and Mountaintop Sound performing Americana with more than a hint of bluegrass and folk. Then, Steve Schein and Shine On round it out with Grateful Dead covers and more Americana. Senator Jeff Golden will join us to say a few words. There will be free wine, beverages and appetizers and social time with friends and climate activists. There is no charge for admission, but a $20 donation is suggested.

After a decade of volunteer leadership, Southern Oregon Climate Action Now plans to reach a new level of climate action in early 2024 with the hiring of its first salaried executive director. To generate funds sufficient to support this transition, SOCAN is engaged in a formidable fall fundraising campaign. This kicked off in early September with a successful event and continues with this event on November 11. Volunteers are needed at the bash. Sign up to help.

To help SOCAN reach this new level of climate action, SOCAN thanks the bands Shine On and Mountaintop Sound, plus the following contributors to our effort: Oregon Raindrop Fund, Troon, South Stage Cellars, the Urban Cork, Wooldridge Creek, the Medford Coop, and Lend Me a Plate. Learn More
